12:44PM - Big Bad Wolf and Sub Pop

I really wish I would have been older and active during the 90's wave of sub pop festivals. This is a signed and numbered Kozik poster that has been forgotten and overlooked at ArtRock. Somehow, it got removed from the system. . . but I'm putting it back in today! I love how the wolf shows off his bling-bling and he's drooling and trying to do the disco all at the same time.
Not too many customers at ArtRock today. Yesterday, I cut a lady a deal with some blotters signed by Leary. Our ebay auction is ending tomorrow, and I've got a load on my plate. Finally moving out of the Balmoral, I'm CAT SITTING at Paramount Apartments, and I'm supposed to pick up the keys to my new place tomorrow.
Hope everybody's good! I'm still working on our crappy website.

9:45AM - Busy Busy!
I've been so busy at ArtRock. Trying to get stuff up on eBay that will sell. I actually slashed our eBay prices by about $75-$100 in order to stimulate bids. I think its working. I guess people want to get something for nothing these days.
The problem with eBay is that its lowering the value of the poster. Every person who goes into poster collecting wants their poster to be worth thousands of dollars one day. But not one of those collectors (OK, 95% of them) don't want to pay thousands of dollars for a poster.
They want to be able to say, "I got this poster off eBay for fifty bucks ten years ago, I had no idea it would cover the mortgage on our house."
But they don't get it! Because eBay is saturated with poster dealers (a lot of nasty bootlegs out there), and people are desperate for money, people keep hacking away the prices of the poster.
Every time a poster sells on eBay, the price gets listed on Expressobeans. Every serious poster collector knows that expressobeans is THE source for values of posters. When a low price of a poster gets put into expressobeans, it actually LOWERS the value of the poster.
So eBay is screwing up the value of posters. But times are hard, and we are desperate for $. I've probably ranted about this before.
Anyway, in case you ever wondered what real Vintage LSD looks like, here's a photo of some undipped blotter art signed by Timothy Leary. Leary signed all these blotters at ArtRock just before he died. I think we paid him $5,000 an hour to sign all the blotters.
Apparently, it was a real party going on.
The back of blotter.
This is the front, the whole sheet of blotter (Undipped).

3:16PM - The Ten Sided Decagon
I have no idea what this poster is. I just found it under a pile of things. The artist had such bad penmanship that you can't even tell when he had it printed... 196--?
It's old, and its a true blacklight poster... not like a bunch of the knock-off blacklight posters you see today.
I would try to sell this poster, but honestly, I can't. It doesn't have a title, and I have no idea what the artist is trying to say about the world. It looks like the art of a LSD induced trip some forty or so years ago.
I call this "Decagon Delights."
Here are some more close ups. If you have any idea what this poster is about, please let me know!

8:46AM - Late start today
We're starting late today. I actually got to work at 8:30, but I should have remembered that it was Monday and the Cush is never on time Mondays. I'm sipping on vanilla coffee and wishing I had earplugs. In a minut I will check on sales, but that's about it for now.

3:34PM - Nothing New
I'm sorry about the last post with the HUGE photo. I really wish that I wasn't so alone in San Francisco! My boyfriend is a complete internet tard and he thinks I am the internet guru. HAH. I wish I had a geeky friend who could sit down with me and show me how to use MySpace, FaceBook, WordPress, and basic HTML coding.
To be honest, when I was in college, I started to get the hang of HTML coding. But those were long drawn out nights I mostly spent obsessing about guys.
So--- this person from Puerto Rico sent me a hoard of books today. I guess she knows (I'm assuming she's a woman based on the name, but it could be a pen name) that I'm poor and can't afford much of anything.
I don't have any cool posters to put up today. I promise the next time that I post something, it won't be a big huge eye-sore huge thing. It will be smaller, like the way Billysands put the photo.
Today at ArtRock, I spent it doing counting inventory. I think the Cushway is thinking about selling the business for like a thirtieth of what its worth. Just crunching all those numbers made me want to cry today. Looking at all those valuable posters. . . Times are so hard. It looks like the old Artrock might be forgotten.
But maybe its better that way. I just hope that whoever gets our posters treats them with respect... Anyway, I'm going to try to edit that last entry I posted and make it a little more tolerable.

12:23PM - Dirty Disney Reprint!
[IMG]http://i27.tinypic.com/
25owc4x.jpg[/IMG]
This is just a reprint I found in the archives. The original version is selling on eBay right now for nearly 2,000! I knew this was a rare poster, but I didn't know it was that valuable.
I'm trying to find out the artist who came up with the Dirty Disney idea. This poster is from the 1960's, before Walt Disney became super obsessed with their image. Don't get me wrong, Disney still filed a gigantic lawsuit against the artist and demanded that all the prints be destroyed. . .
But there's still a handfull of them left. This particular variant is kind of unfinished. You can't quite see the details on Alice and Wonderland. The characters on the bottom though are having their fill.
I think this is the only place you can see Mickey Mouse shooting up while Mini Mouse has an affair with goofy. She was probably bummed out that her boyfriend was so screwed up. . . but I must say, Mini does look high in this poster.
Anyway, that's it for today.

1:14PM - Its All About the Art of Rock N' Roll
I'm back again, after many months of haitus.
This journal is going to be dedicated soley to the Art of Rock. We have thousands of posters here in the gallery, and they aren't all for sale on our website, and a lot of them aren't even for sale.
I'm going to use this blog to write about the obscure posters that I find. I love art and I love sharing art with other people!
The user picture I have now is of a 1968 poster called No. 24. This is only a very small part of the whole poster. Its a strange collage an artist named Satty put together when he was either on or off LSD.
I always hated this poster, because the colors are so dreary... but after living in San Francisco for a few years, being subjected to the constant blistering cold, wind, and fog. . . this poster has grown on me.
I especially like the insanely ominous moon in the background.
2:22AM - New To This Again
So, I'm doing this again. Got bored of the other journal. Now, I'm back at this with a fresh view of the world. Its been about six months since I've regularly kept an online journal, but I'm doing this for fun. I hope that blogging isn't dead. I want to see what other people are up to these days... Hmmm....
What to do.
Think I'll poke around a little and see what happens.
